Man I tell you, there's a lot of shit involved in putting together a cool DIY project. Wether it's a band a fanzine, a collective, whatever. We have learned a lot along the way and gathered some good info needed to do some of the band stuff. Here is some of what we have gathered I hope it helps you.
The information in this data base has been compiled from many sourses.
BYOFL, Detterent, The Underground Railroad, Newsgroups, word of mouth
etc. This list contians the items from the above sourses that we
have found useful. It is by no means comprhensive.
Books
Everything I needed to know I learned in a punk band! And of course
some damn fool has written a book about every fucking question you may
ask. Here are some that I have used.
Book Your Own Fucking Life
How To Make & Sell Your Own Recording
Compiled By The Bleeding Heart Collective
Avalible from Maxinim Rock & Roll
This is a great little book full of listings of anyone who felt they
were important in the underground/punk sceane. I've found that in
reality a high percentage of the folks listed here are losers who wish
they had a life but the people in here who actually doing things are
working real hard to make a good sceane and will work with you too.

I think the author of this book is a folkie, well at least the book is
aimed mainly at the small folk musician, but she still sites ROIR! and have
the cover of Jello's "I blow minds for a living" in there. This book covers
nearly EVERY aspect of making a recording and selling. It's kinds like a
primer. I don't know if you could set yourself up as a money making indi label
just from reading this book but you could get danm close!
